For instance, during an X-ray, necessary protective measures like padding for breast protection were not provided, nor was I given a pregnancy test before the procedure—precautions that are standard and critical for patient safety.
These oversights are not just administrative failures; they underscore a larger issue of inconsistent healthcare practices that can significantly affect patient outcomes and experiences. It’s a reminder of the disparities that exist in our healthcare system and the additional challenges faced by those of us living with autoimmune diseases.
As I prepare to return home to see my specialists in New York, my heart is heavy at the thought of leaving behind the charity work that fuels my passion.
